Beware the Google Review Scam: A Cautionary Tale
How Does the Scam Work?
How to “Write a Review and Get Paid” Scam Works
Online Scams often prey on people’s desire to make easy money, and one such Scam involves getting paid to write fake reviews.
Here’s how it works and why you should stay away from it.
The Setup
A Scammer, often posing as a representative of an organization, reaches out via platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp or Telegram. They offer a simple task: write positive reviews for restaurants, YouTube channels or businesses on platforms like Google. In return, they promise to get paid for each review.
How They Win Your Trust
Initially, everything seems legitimate. They pay you small amounts immediately for the reviews you write, building your trust and making you believe the opportunity is real.
Bait and Deceit
Once you’re hooked, they begin the next stage of the Scam. They ask you to invest money, claiming you’ll earn high returns on your investment. For example:
Invest ₹1,000 to earn ₹1,300.
Later, they promise even higher profits, forcing you to invest more. These Scammers often create fake accounts on fake platforms to show fake profits and convince you to continue investing. The trap gets even stronger Over time, victims transfer large sums of money.
When they try to withdraw their “earnings,” the Scammers demand additional payments, claiming it is necessary to unlock the funds. By the time the victim realizes it is a Scam, they have lost a lot of money. A real case example In August 2023, a man named Kritika Dev from West Sagarpur fell victim to this Scam. Initially paid ₹150 for each review, Krithika agreed to invest ₹1,000 in return for the promise of ₹1,300.
Over time, she transferred ₹23 lakh to the Scammers.
When she tried to withdraw her funds, she was blocked until she invested more money.
Eventually, Krithika reported the Scam on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal, following which an investigation was launched.
The police arrested four people, unearthing connections to an international network involving Chinese nationals. However, the mastermind is still absconding.

The Dream of becoming a commercial Pilot is shared by many who are fascinated by the allure of the skies and the thrill of operating sophisticated aircraft. While it is a rewarding career both personally and financially, the path to becoming a commercial Pilot is challenging and requires a significant investment of time, effort, and resources. This guide will walk you through the process step-by-step, from developing your initial interest to flying commercially.
1. Understand the Role of a Commercial Pilot
Before embarking on this journey, it’s essential to understand what being a commercial Pilot entails. As a commercial Pilot, your primary responsibility is to operate aircraft carrying passengers or cargo. The role demands:
Strong technical knowledge of aviation systems.
The ability to handle emergencies calmly and effectively.
Excellent communication and coordination Skills.
A commercial Pilot must also meet stringent health and Skill standards set by aviation regulatory bodies.
2. Assess Your Aptitude and Health
Flying an aircraft is a demanding job that requires specific physical and mental attributes. Key requirements include:
Physical fitness: Regular medical examinations ensure Pilots meet the necessary health standards, including good vision (with or without correction), hearing, and cardiovascular health.
Mental fitness: Pilots need to demonstrate strong decision-making abilities, emotional stability, and quick thinking under pressure.
Consider taking a Pilot aptitude test to evaluate your suitability for a career in aviation. These tests often assess spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination, multitasking, and logical reasoning.
3. Obtain the Required Educational Qualifications
To become a commercial Pilot, you typically need to complete high school or its equivalent with a focus on subjects like:
Mathematics
Physics
English
A solid foundation in these subjects is critical, as they are integral to understanding aviation principles and operations. Some airlines and countries may require a college degree, though this is not universally mandatory.
4. Choose a Flight School
Selecting the right flight school is one of the most critical steps in your journey. Research flight training academies that are accredited by recognized aviation authorities like the FAA (USA), EASA (Europe), DGCA (India), or CASA (Australia). Factors to consider include:
