Reward and Recognition System by RutuPallavi Harichandan Manager HR Aircrews Aviation Pvt Ltd

Organizational Behavior
Reward and Recognition System
(Importance, Role and Impact)

The business strategy associated with rewards and motivation towards job satisfaction has a resilient effect on success of the organization.
The Word rewards state the benefits that workers receive from their jobs. In any organization, rewards play an important role in building and sustaining the commitment among employees that ensures a high standard of performance and workforce constancy. Reward refers to all categories of financial benefits, tangible services and benefits that an employee receives as part of employment relationship with the organization. Rewards increase the level of efficiency and performance of the employees on their jobs and in the result thereof increase the success of the organization. Rewards can be extrinsic and intrinsic.
Intrinsic rewards often include praise for completing a project or meeting performance objectives.
Extrinsic rewards are tangible and take both monetary and nonmonetary forms. Tangible compensation may be direct or indirect. With direct forms of compensation, the employer exchanges monetary rewards for work done. Indirect compensation is given to every employee as a result of organizational membership.
Below, we'll take a look at four common types of employee reward systems.
Monetary Reward Systems. The most common type of monetary reward system is an annual or semi-annual bonus.
Non-Monetary Reward Systems.
Employee Assistance Programs.
Employee Recognition Programs.

Recognition: Employees do not only want attractive pay and benefits, but also expect that their efforts are valued, appreciated and treated fairly. Recognition is the timely, informal or formal acknowledgement of a person’s or team’s behaviour, effort or business result that supports the organization’s goals and values, and which usually is beyond normal expectations. The motivation of employees and their productivity can be enhanced through providing them effective recognition which ultimately results in improved performance of organizations. Recognition programs demonstrate respect for employees. A meaningful, thoughtful employee appreciation program is about valuing employees' efforts and having respect for who they are and what they do.
Employee Rewards Make Happier Employees
Rewards are an important part of keeping employees happy and productive. There is a direct correlation between rewards and employee happiness, with 86 percent of employees saying that they feel happier and prouder when they are recognized at work, and 85 percent saying that they felt more satisfied with their jobs.
Happy Employees are More Productive
Motivated and happy employees also contribute to the bottom line. Companies with engaged employees have higher revenues than those that don’t, to the tune of two-and-a-half to three times greater. Profitability also increases with employee engagement.
Employee Recognition Increases Trust
Beyond keeping employees happy, though, which is key to motivation, employee recognition also increases trust in the workplace. People want to know that their efforts are making a difference and aren’t going unnoticed by high-ups. Rewarding and recognizing employees creates stronger relationships, which in turn spurs motivation.
Designing the Perfect Rewards Program
With reward and recognition serving such an important role in employee motivation, it’s imperative that employers get it right. Rewards only work when they are meaningful and address the needs of the recipient. Everyone wants to be recognized for their accomplishments, but they also want autonomy and increasing responsibility; this gives a sense that they are contributing value to the organization. External factors, such as bonuses, pay increases, free meals, parking spots and other perks are always appreciated, but rather than truly motivating people, they are more effective at preventing dissatisfaction.

Organization Culture Can be Improved by Social Media

The concept of social media is the top agenda for many business executives today. Firms can make profits by using applications such as Wikipedia, youtube and so on. When we talk about online marketing, it's a great platform for many businesses or a company to showcase their business activities. On the other hand organizational culture exists on many levels and can be described by examining organizational structure and policies, behavioral norms and exposed values. Social media is basically about the technologies that have increased the social interaction of individuals online. The website related to the organization contains videos, pictures, message boards to help people to communicate more often.
There are 3 ways to use social media to build your company culture. Company culture is a lot like meetings, it's an inescapable and inevitable, part of the employee experience, but with the rise of social media, virtual employees and global teams, new business paradigms mean that when it comes to communicating culture and developing an authentic and resonant employer brand, it's anything but business as usual. Here are some of the top company culture considerations and strategies for leveraging social media that can transform your workplace culture into a competitive advantage.
Monitoring social media channels like Twitter and Facebook, along with discussion forums like Glassdoor and Quora can help to identify some of the conceptions associated with your company culture. Listening to what the marketplace is saying also provides the evidence and insights necessary to build a business case and gain internal buy-in. A social culture audit should also help you identify the most active, and influential, voices who are discussing your company culture online.
In the past this sort of data was culled through anonymous employee surveys. In the new age of talent management, social media platforms are used where employees can communicate with there customers about their unique experiences and perceptions of your company's workplace culture. For example, if the top-level management does not value their input and feedback of employee and make them dissatisfied then social media platforms like Glassdoor, make the customers know about the company culture by the feedback given by the employee in the form of pros and cons .
Just as internal referrals can be an effective means of direct sourcing, your employees can be powerful advocates in conveying and amplifying your corporate culture and employer value proposition. An employee who actively advocates your company culture effectively links their personal brand with your employment brand, creating asocial media win for everyone - particularly when it comes to improving the candidate experience for both internal and external candidates.

Top Features of an Ideal Business School by Kajal Priya

Top Features of an Ideal Business School

Your primary objective in writing your MBA application essays is to provide evidence that proves you possess the qualities that admissions committees value most. Doing so will bring you one step closer to earning an acceptance letter.  In this article, MBA Prep School  will introduce and describe the qualities that successful MBA candidates feature in their essays. The qualities MBA programs prize above others include:
  • Leadership
  • Collaborative Style
  • Integrity
  • Analytical Intelligence
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Creativity
  • Community Spirit
  • Global Awareness
  • Self-Awareness
All nine of these qualities appeal to MBA admissions officers. Nonetheless, it’s not possible to emphasize every single one of these traits to the same degree. That’s where designing an application strategy comes into play.
One of the most important aspects of designing an effective application strategy is deciding on the subset of qualities and strengths you are going to highlight in your applications. Your decision hinges on the collection of evidence and examples available for you to draw upon to exemplify your most prominent traits and abilities.
While reading the following definitions of the qualities we listed, start to consider which ones you can best exemplify in your application materials. Later, you will want to be certain of your shortlist of qualities, so that you can evaluate the drafts you’ve written and your MBA application as a whole in order to ask yourself whether or not you have managed to highlight the qualities you decided to feature in your application strategy.
It’s no secret that MBA programs are seeking to admit future leaders. That’s why leadership tops our list of the qualities that MBA programs value most.

1. Leadership

Most MBA candidates realize that convincing the admissions office that they are leaders is of the utmost importance. What’s less clear to them is how to do so. Too many applicants end up devoting most of their essay word count—and application real estate as a whole—to sharing individual achievements rather than leadership accomplishments.
In fact, it can sometimes be tricky to distinguish between an individual accomplishment story and a leadership story. The best way to tell the difference is that a leadership achievement represents a result or outcome that you couldn’t and didn’t reach solely on your own. Leadership is about achieving your goals by harnessing the energy and ideas of other people.

2. Collaborative Style

A person who has a collaborative style is a team player who works well with others and puts the good of the group ahead of his or her self-interest. Business schools want to see that you are going to contribute to the success of your classmates and their learning and growth. This trait is the opposite of being selfish or self-serving.

3. Integrity

Integrity has to do with honesty, ethics, and morals – it centers on your sense of right and wrong.  MBA admissions officers are interested in your character. Have you built trust with others and kept the promises you have made to yourself and to other people?

4. Analytical Intelligence

Analytical intelligence has to do with your ability to run the numbers, solve quantitative problems, identify patterns in information, and make data-driven decisions.

5. Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence has been a hot topic over the last decade. You might also refer to it as “interpersonal intelligence.” This quality has to do with your aptitude for understanding other people’s feelings and your capacity as a leader for tapping into emotion to inspire your followers to realize a high degree of success.

6. Creativity

Creativity, or creative intelligence, relates to your ability to cope with new situations by synthesizing prior knowledge and skills in a novel way. It also means seeing the world in your own unique way and having the ability to design and develop something that hasn’t existed before.

7. Community Spirit

Being community-minded means that you devote energy to serving your communities and strengthening them. Your community service accomplishments provide admissions officers with an important signal that you are a giver, not a taker. Remember, business schools are looking for students who will contribute just as much as they take away.

8. Global Awareness

A person who is globally aware typically has had life experiences that extend beyond his or her home country. When writing your MBA application essays, look for ways to emphasize your cross-cultural and international experiences. Ideally, the career goals you share in your Career Goals essay will also demonstrate a global scope.

9. Self-Awareness

Self-awareness relates to your capacity to objectively assess your strengths and weaknesses, learn from your mistakes, and grow beyond prior limitations. In many ways, the entire MBA application process is a massive test of your self-knowledge. To succeed, you need to understand yourself and communicate what you are about to a third party (i.e., the admissions officers).
CONCLUSION
If you’ve read this article closely and started to reflect on a subset of the above qualities that you can best exemplify in your application essays, then you are one step closer to writing powerful application essays.
With a clear understanding of the types of essay questions you’re going to face during the MBA application process and a better handle on the
qualities you need to showcase in your application essays, you are now prepared to begin the essay brainstorming process. In the next article in MBA Prep School’s Essay Writing Bootcamp series, we share a step-by-step process for choosing your most powerful topics and stories.
