Effects of Long-haul Flights on the health of Pilot and Cabin Crew are following:-
a) DVT:- Accumulation of fluid in the legs and thighs, of about 250 ml per leg. This fluid is mainly blood, and it increases the risk of deep vein thrombosis or DVT. It can also lead to thickening of the skin by around 1.5 mm, which subsides only after three days.
b) Air-borne diseases:-It has been said that, hundred times more likely to catch a cold on a flight than you are on land. The viruses responsible for the infection thrive better in low humidity environments, causing a rise in the incidences of catching a cold or flu from passengers who are already affected.
c) Dehydration:-Super-dry air, with reduced oxygen, makes it all too easy for dehydration to set in.
d) Radiation:-cosmic ionizing radiation from space, which has been linked to cancer and reproductive problems.
e) Jet-leg:-Due to long -haul flights a temporary sleep disorder occurs. It occurs when the body's internal clock is out of sync with cues from a new time zone.
Effective meaures which can be taken by HR to reduce the health problems:-
•They should check that pilots and cabin crew Hydrate themselves before getting on the plane.
•They should control the supply of booze for them
•Hand sanitizer should be mandatory for them.
•If there is a pregnant member of pilot and cabin crew, consider schedule-switching to avoid ultra-long-haul flights
•HR should take measures to reduce jet leg effects to a minimum – the watches were set according to the time of the destination, to minimize jet leg.

INTRODUCTION
More than any other job in the airline industry, pilots are responsible for the very lives of travelers. Pilots must have a high degree of knowledge when it comes to weather patterns, navigation, and the operation of the many instruments in any aircraft’s cockpit.
In the event of an emergency, it is the pilot’s job to land the plane safely. Weather can change and equipment can malfunction, but it is the ultimate responsibility of the pilot to ensure a safe flight, so he or she must be prepared to handle rapidly changing situations.Pilots are the one who is comes under the highest paid Designation in the aviation industry. We all have always seen the Glamorous life which they have but never thought about the problems and challenges which are faced by them on the duty and off the duty.
PROBLEMS
there are two main moments a pilot face challenges - on duty and off duty.
First talking about on duty :-running through airports, especially if the pilot has another flight right after he lands. The pilot also has to deal with difficult passengers regularly.Pilots travel all the time, and they too suffer the consequence of jet lag.All airline pilots are on a schedule, one minute too late will cause penalties to be placed on the pilots. That's not all. Those were only problems faced by pilots on the ground. In the air, pilots have to be on a constant lookout outside the aircraft for other aircrafts, terrain or other obstacles that night jeopardise the safety of the flight crew and the passenger's. Pilots also have to be on constant alert for unusual sounds or smells that may indicate a problem on the aircraft
Secondly talking about off duty:-As the airline pilots are gone regularly, they often miss significant family or friends events. This would strain their relationships. Of course some work the problems out and have a way to maintain nice relationships. After arriving back home, airline pilots usually just have enough rest time before having to rest and go to work again. Sometimes they don't get time for their own family.
SOLUTION:-
"Every problem has a Solution"
This statement proves that problem comes with there solution. Pilots can also get rid of there problems by following the measures in there life. They should follow the laws framed by the ICAO on the duty and should follow health care procedures. Of the duty they can get rid of there problems by understanding the needs of there family and spending the most time with them rather than spending it on there phone, hang -outs, parties etc.
CONCLUSION:-
Every occupation look Glamourous until and unless we become the part of that occupation. We should know how to enjoy our occupation and how to tackle with the problems which arises. Being pilots facing problems are normal and how to tackle with them only depends upon the person. So Be postive and take the problem in a positive way so that it can handled.

Green Aviation is the pursuit of reductions in noise, greenhouse gas emissions, and fuel usage. For decades, aerospace has been considered a major polluter. However, these environmental impacts have not gone ignored by the industry. Today, civil aerospace spends roughly $15 billion a year on sustainability-related research and technology development. As a result, big changes are infiltrating the industry of flight. In green aviation, fuel consumption is the first thing that comes to mind. While improvements to fuel efficiency are an important part, diversifying fuel types is just as vital. Today, the aviation industry is pursuing several alternatives to traditional oil, including Honeywell’s Green Jet Fuel, ethanol and even bio-kerosene in order to identify better methods of powering aircraft and reducing emissions. And major airlines, like United and Virgin Atlantic, are making pledges toward utilizing these innovative fuels.

Removing, but also preventing a build-up of snow and ice on the wings and tail of an airplane is crucial for a safe take-off. A plane's wings and rear tail component are engineered with a very specific shape in order to provide proper lift for flight. Snow and ice on these areas in essence changes their shape and disrupts the airflow across the surface, hindering the ability to create lift.Whenever snow, ice, or even frost has accumulated on the aircraft, the pilots call on the airport deicing facility to have it removed. Deicing fluid, a mixture of a chemical called glycol and water, is generally heated and sprayed under pressure to remove ice and snow on the aircraft. While it removes ice and snow, deicing fluid has a limited ability to prevent further ice from forming. If winter precipitation is falling, such as snow, freezing rain or sleet, further action needs to be taken to prevent ice from forming again on the aircraft before takeoff. In these cases, anti-icing fluid is applied after the deicing process .
