Importance of Press Release for SEO and List Of Top PR Sites

Importance of Press Release for SEO and List Of Top PR Sites

Simply put, they are a method of distributing and announcing content regarding an event (in either text, audio or video format). A press release can also announce other kinds of information that would be deemed newsworthy, in the hope of getting media attention from it. The idea is that the release promotes the event or company “news” to the public, increasing its popularity and therefore, its success. This is obviously beneficial for promoting your company brand or event.

Press releases were commonly and widely used by the SEO community just over a decade ago. However, as the internet and SEO grew in popularity, they became less accessible as an approach in strategy towards building backlinks and internet traffic. This was mainly due to the exponential increase of spam that journalists and news editors had to sift through and refine every day. But just because they are less accessible by no means does this render them redundant – in fact they are still highly effective regarding SEO today and if they’re done right, have the potential to be incredibly beneficial for your website and company.

Press releases are probably the best backlink building tool you have at your disposal in that they will boost the amount of incoming traffic to your website through the inherent backlinks it generates. Any webmaster will be aware of how difficult and frustrating it can be to build up an adequate number of backlinks for SEO, and furthermore, it is even harder to accomplish this without having to use private blog networks (which are fairly high risk and can be potentially damaging to your site) or purchase more links.

Having your release published on an online news site will help you to accumulate more backlinks, which are obtained from both the news website itself and other webmasters who access that particular page. Basically, they will:

·       Get the attention of the media, which could result in your release being published and broadcasted to the public.

·       Generate a large number of backlinks in a relatively short time space.

·       Build high quality links.

·       Build links in a ‘natural’ way.

·       They have indirect value as well – if it is unique and attention grabbing, a smaller blog or other outlet is more likely to share it. This will create awareness and initiate a lot of referral traffic for your page.

·       If done right, press releases will not result in any penalties for your website.

Importance of ViSume in Airline Hiring Rumana Maner

Importance of ViSume in Airline Hiring

@Rumana Maner

ViSume stands for “Video Resume” - a brief video version of a traditional resume.

This have been around for quite some time, but recently its popularity has soared. This article looks at the advantages of having a Visume and how to go about creating one.

In July 2021, TikTok launched a pilot program called TikTok Resumes, where users could create a video CV showcasing their skills and experience to send directly to participating recruiters. Many companies including major US brands such as Target, Chipotle and World Wrestling Entertainment, have signed up for the one-month pilot.

In March 2021, LinkedIn announced the launch of its new LinkedIn Profile features, and one of the functions is allowing candidates to upload a short video to their Profile. According to LinkedIn, almost 79% of hiring managers believe video has become more important for vetting job candidates.

With the rising demand for video CVs, candidates could take advantage of the tool to help them stand out to hiring managers because video resumes can highlight candidates’ personality and bring life to their stories better, unlike the traditional resume that could not project voice or animations.

So, how to make a video resume like a pro?

You don’t need huge investments to create one. Here are the steps to creating a Visume:

1. Prepare a script.

Your script should include your name, overview of work experience, key achievements, skills and why you think you are the best fit for the role.

2. Prepare the tools for video shooting.

You will need a decent smartphone, a standee for the phone, a wireless microphone that is compatible with your phone, and a portable selfie ring light. Make sure the batteries are fully charged before the shooting session.

3. Set up the shooting location.

Choose a quiet place with sufficient natural sunlight to set up all the tools you have prepared. Your background should best be a plain wall or against a decent setting (or light furniture). Should not show clothes hanging around or messy shelves or people walking around.

4. Record several takes.

How to get rid of anxiety when you’re on camera? Just remember that this is not a live stream. You have many opportunities to retake the scene, and practice makes perfect. Record several takes and make sure you have vertical and horizontal shots for each scene so that you may choose the best shot for editing purposes.

5. Use video editing tools.

Just search for video editing tools online and select what works for you – some examples include: Animaker, Biteable, or Veed.io. Use a professional-looking template for editing and keep the video’s duration within 2 minutes. Once you’re satisfied with the result, you may download the video resume; remember to keep the file compressed within 10Mb so that it is viable to be sent through email which has limited size capacity.

6. Send out your Visume along with your resume.

Don’t forget to attach your Visume with your traditional resume. The conventional resume provides detailed information that you may not be able to present within your two-minute Visume. As an added easy reference - add a link (from your cloud drive) at the end of your Visume so that the recruiter can download a softcopy of your traditional resume easily.

Is Video Resume (Visume) a Rising Trend for Hiring?

We all have heard about resumes. But have you ever heard about Video Resume? This word is trending in the industries, especially knocking on all the HR doors more than we can comprehend. But the question is, what is a video resume?

A video resume is a short video or a clipping of 2-3 minutes long by a candidate looking for employment or a promotion, uploaded to various Job-related websites. Creating a video resume is not difficult as selfie video can be made easily. Some even attach the video in their emails for prospective clients and employers to review with their portfolios and written resumes. But what’s the difference between video resumes and written resumes?

Well, a video resume acts as a detailed supplement to the existing resume. It will be wrong for us to say that video resumes are replacing paper resumes. Yes, it is true that in a video, the candidate speaks about their skills and experiences in a better way, personalising the resume, Still, it won’t be replacing the written resumes anytime soon. So, why is Video resume being such a rage in the corporate industries?

With shift sudden shift of businesses, we have seen how almost everything is done online. Whether it’s a meeting or a job interview, you can do everything from the comforts of your home. Also, it is quite tiresome to conduct mass interviews in a short period of time, to understand who the candidates are.

Why are video resumes raging?

With video resumes, the first part of the interview gets done easily. The employers get to know about the candidate much better. The first round of introductions is done without any hassle. Also, the employers get to know in detail about their skills and experiences from the candidates’ perspectives in a better way. Also, paper resumes are constant. You do not change resumes in short periods when you are applying for jobs. But you can change a video resume according to the job targets.

For example, you have both a degree in engineering and designing. The company you are applying for is an advertisement agency. Now, a paper resume may not explain your niche adequately. Still, through a video resume, you can explain how your degree, especially the degree in designing, suits the best for their company. Your profile becomes a tailor-made profile and increases the chances of you getting the job.

Video resumes can’t solely decide whether you will get the offer or not but it sure increases your opportunities and avenues.

Do you need a video resume? Is it mandatory?

No, it is not. Creating a video resume is an option. Well, many companies still don’t request a video resume from job seekers. Many companies still prefer traditional resumes but many have stated that they liked video resumes more since it makes the whole profile quite personalised.

This matters on the type of industry you are looking for jobs in. If you belong to a creative field and apply to companies that deal with art and creativity, then a video resume is your best option. A video resume gives you a chance to highlight your valuable skills. If you are an actor, you can attach a clip of your mock acting, mimicry, etc. to your resume. Or if you are a graphic designer, you can attach a video about how you work, your methodology, and explain your experiences that influence your creativity.

Another industry is the Managerial and Sales department that loves video resumes. A video resume is also an excellent way to show off your personality and confidence. The employer gets a chance to see how you will enact when sitting in a Client-facing role. Your video of five minutes should be enough to showcase your talents and your charming personality.

A video resume will be a window to your job roles.

But if your job profile is not visual, then you do not need a video resume. For example, if you are a coding professional, then the employer will be interested in your experiences and your portfolio. How you do visually won’t matter to them.

You need to take a pause before you make a video resume. There are some pointers that you must consider before you shoot for a video resume. Kindly keep this point in mind, that once you share your video resume on the internet, you have almost no control on how it is shared around. So, ensure that the video is neither unprofessional nor inappropriate and that will act as a hindrance to your job search. A video resume along with a paper resume can increase your chances of getting noticed but equally presents a loophole that may act the opposite of what you want.

Take time before you shoot for your video resume.

1. Time to be Professional:

A video resume is a part of your interview. So, dress how you will appear for a professional interview. Do not wear casual or revealing attire in the video. Also, avoid any kind of informal jokes and slang. Ensure that you don’t crack jokes or comment on anything which will be deemed as unprofessional like casual sexism, racism, casteism, etc.

2. A monochrome background:

Nobody will like to see a noisy or a shabby background in your video. Ensure that you shoot your video is a calm place with a clean background. A white wall works the best but if you can invest, then you may choose to buy a small green screen. Also, take care of the lighting.

3. Script it out!

Now, we are not asking you to write a script for a movie. But you have to jot down the points and make a proper chronology of what you are going to talk about in the video. The video needs to be specific, crisp, and to the point. You don’t have to shoot an advertisement or even make a clumsy video of you stammering or forgetting the lines. So, take your pen and paper. Start writing that Oscar-winning script now!

4. Brief! Brief! Brief!

Employers don’t have time to listen to your novellas. So, you only get 2-3 mins maximum to win the employers over. So, ensure that the whole video is extremely crisp and brief.

Do’s and don’ts of producing a video resume

Just as font, size, and formatting are important for a traditional resume, internship seekers who know how to produce and edit a quality video (or can hire someone to do it) have a big advantage. To help you, and your video, look their best, follow our tips and tricks:

Do …

·       Shoot your video on a tripod or use your webcam.

·       Use proper lighting. Computer screens tend to make videos look darker, so added brightness can improve image quality.

·       Film close-up, against a solid colour surface. Avoid prints and remove any clutter in the background.

·       Dress in professional business attire, just as you would for an interview.

·       Keep your video short, no more than 1–3 minutes in length.

·       Look directly into the camera and remember to smile.

·       Make sure there isn’t any background noise (like music, talking, or phones).

·       Practice what you’re going to say ahead of time, so that you speak naturally and clearly.

·       Review your video and edit it, so that it’s polished and succinct.

Don’t …

·       Speak too quickly.

·       Wear heavy makeup or distracting accessories.

·       Gesture with your hands too much, as it can be distracting.

·       Use phrases such as “like,” “um,” or “ah” too often. If you’re about to use one of these, just pause for a moment, and then resume talking.

·       Mix your personal life with your professional. Stay focused on how you can add value for the company.

·       Expect your video resume to replace your traditional resume. Some employers don’t utilize video resumes due to concerns about discrimination issues, i.e., hiring candidates because of how they look and sound rather than based on their qualifications. However, a well-done video can boost your chances in many fields.

One more thing

Before you post or send out a video introduction, carefully review how you come across it. Ask friends, family, or your school’s Career Center to review it as well. They’ll be able to tell you if it’s good to go, or if you should go back to the drawing (or filming) board.

Here are Basic Tips to Get Your Airline Ready Video Resume

Write a Small CV Script.

First Things First: Do not wing it up.

Make it very relevant.

Just like a Paper Resume, your Video Resume must be Specific to the Job Roles

Keep it Short. HRs are very busy people. ...

Get Creative. ...
