A few days ago, I came across Napoleon Hill’s quote, “What the mind of man can conceive and believe, the mind of man can achieve.”I believe that a great number of people have
read this quote, liked it, and were inspired by it. However, how many really thought about it, acted according to it, and achieved what they conceived in their mind?
If you can think about a certain goal, and if you believe you can achieve it, you will most probably achieve it, provided you add another ingredient to the equation, and that ingredient
is a strong desire. Without a strong desire, no one strives to achieve anything. You may daydream about owning a new car or a new house, traveling abroad, or becoming rich, but none would
come true, unless you have a strong desire to succeed. A strong desire pushes you forward, and gives you the motivation, energy and persistence to act, do things and succeed.
Every day, we use gadgets and instruments that were conceived in the minds of their inventors, who believed they could create them.The people, who invented the smartphone, the television,
cars and airplanes, conceived those inventions in their minds, believed they could create them, and had a strong desire to turn their ideas into reality. What the mind can conceive and
believe it can achieve is true in every area of life. It is true in simple everyday life, and it is true when you pursue a major goal. If you want to stop getting angry or stressed, and
believe you can do it, it becomes possible. When you want to learn a new language, and believe you can learn to speak it fluently, this becomes a reality. If you want to be rich, conceive an
idea how to do that, believe it and have a strong desire, this too, will eventually become a reality in your life. Some of the goals might be easier and faster to achieve than others, and
some might need time, perseverance and patience to achieve.Always remember that what the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve. Repeat this thought when you are discouraged, and when
you are about to quit and give up, and remember this whenever you have a dream you wish to achieve.You can achieve anything, if you believe you can achieve it, and do not let thoughts to the
contrary to enter your mind. Unfortunately, most people let negative thoughts and lack of belief have the upper hand.You may spend time every day daydreaming about starting a business and
achieving success. You may repeat affirmations and visualize your goal, and you may repeatedly visualize how your business is prospering. However, if you do not believe what you are thinking,
affirming or visualizing, and if you do not have a strong desire, what you want will remain as a dream and never become a reality.You need to know exactly what you want and be sure of this,
so that you do not have doubts and uncertainty lurking at the back of your mind and sabotaging your efforts.
You need to believe that you can get what you want.
You need to have a strong desire.
You need to persevere until you achieve what you want.

Confidence, composure and calm are the pathways to success. Beliefs are like finely tuned lighting rods, attracting what you expect them to attract. This isn't just the colloquial "Law of Attraction" phenomenon that we hear about so often, it's much more mechanical than that. Beliefs create the lens through which you see the world and the behaviours through which you experience it; they are the compass setting that guides you when the cloud of uncertainty, fear and doubt envelops you and obscures the future. Practice the right beliefs and somehow the world starts to present you with opportunities you'd otherwise never notice, practice the wrong ones and opportunities pass you by like noontime shadows, fleeting and barely noticed.

For others, “the sky is the limit”. In Aviation, the limits are made boundless. Aviation doesn’t have boundaries, it is a chance, a choice to push further, to be a better version of oneself.

Being successful does not depend on super-intellect, gifted abilities, nor on luck. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do.  

Lufthansa's turnaround from near bankruptcy in 1991 to sound financial health by the end of the 1990s is one of the more remarkable stories of recent European corporate change. Reduced to asking the major German banks for money to pay employee salaries in 1992, the company's CEO, Jurgen Weber, embarked on a programme which ultimately led to his announcement in June 1999 of the best results in Lufthansa's seventy-year history.

Lufthansa had reversed a record loss of DM 730m in 1992 to a record pre-tax profit of DM 2.5bn in 1998 on revenues of DM 22.7bn. The proportion of seats filled (Seat Load Factor or SLF) reached 73 per cent, a record performance in Lufthansa's history and a nine percentage point increase on 1991), while the number of passengers increased from 33.7 million in 1992 to 40.5 million in 1998. Staff numbers were cut from about 64,000 in 1992 to roughly 55,000 in 1998.

By 2000 Lufthansa was a privately-owned, profitable company--and a core element of the strongest world-wide alliance in the airline industry. This article--a specially abridged version of a full case study--describes how the company went from the brink of disaster to becoming one of the world's leading airline companies.

Lufthansa’s Jurgen Weber was a drive force, in turning the sinking boat into a multi-billion dollar giant, all because he believed and made wonderful things happen.

Consider the following: if you truly feel that you are capable of success, then there will only ever be one reason that you give up on your goals, and that is because the work necessary is not worth the reward. Otherwise, you simply recognise that you have to go through a process.
